Kizzire holds off Fowler to win 1st career PGA Tour title at OHL Classic

Patton Kizzire claimed his first career PGA Tour title Sunday, winning the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico.

Kizzire fired a final-round 67 to finish at 19-under par for the week, holding off a late charge by Rickie Fowler to win by one shot.

“It was pretty nerve-wracking, but I felt good,” Kizzire told the Golf Channel. “I’ve been in some pretty tough spots before, and I drew on those experiences. It means a lot. I’m pretty excited right now, pretty emotional, and I was glad to get it done.”

Fowler grabbed a solo second finish in his 2017-18 PGA Tour debut with rounds of 65-67-67-67, while Si Woo Kim finished in third place, which was his first top-10 result since winning THE PLAYERS in May.

Charles Howell III and Martin Pillar shared fourth position at 14-under par.

The win earns Kizzire invitations for the first time to Sentry Tournament of Champions and The Masters.
